An experienced Mechanical Engineer is required to support the delivery of a large-scale, mission-critical data centre project in Espoo, Finland. This is a site-based role within a multidisciplinary MEP delivery team, focused on the technical, commercial, and construction management of mechanical building services.

 

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through installation, commissioning, and final handover. The role suits an engineer with strong design coordination skills and experience working for a mechanical or MEP contractor on complex construction projects.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate mechanical engineering activities from design through to commissioning and handover
  • Act as a key point of contact for client-side technical communication on mechanical scope
  • Review tender and contract documentation to ensure scope clarity and technical compliance
  • Lead design management, including review of drawings, specifications, and technical submissions
  • Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, CSA, BIM, and commissioning teams to ensure integrated delivery
  • Oversee the selection, technical approval, and procurement of mechanical plant, equipment, and materials
  • Prepare, review, and implement method statements and risk assessments for mechanical construction activities
  • Manage HVAC deliverables in line with project specifications, programme, and safety requirements
  • Sequence mechanical installation works to align with construction programme milestones
  • Support site installation works to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to HSEQ standards
  • Assist with programme tracking and support progress through testing, commissioning, and handover
  • Support commercial activities including validation of scope at handover from estimating
  • Assist with the documentation and costing of scope changes, variations, monthly valuations, and final accounts
  • Support close-out activities including commissioning documentation, O&M manuals, and snag resolution

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineer role within an M&E or mechanical contracting environment
  • Proven design management and coordination experience is essential
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems within complex construction projects
  • Experience working in design & build project environments
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness with experience supporting procurement and cost control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical projects is advantageous
